COLBY, Kan. – Conference opening wins have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards for Neosho County’s Jake Baldwin and Allen County’s Dickson Phoon for week three of the 2024 season.
Jake Baldwin (Neosho County) – Starting in the only game of the week for the number 14 ranked Panthers, Baldwin helped NCCC to a 5-2 road win over Pratt to open KJCCC play. Taking three shots in the contest, Baldwin scored twice despite focusing his efforts as a defensive midfielder while helping Neosho improve to 2-1-0 overall.
Dickson Phoon (Allen County) – Making his fourth start of the season for the Red Devils, Phoon recorded his second shutout of the season as Allen County went on the road and earned a 2-0 win over Hesston College. Turning away all three shots on goal he faced to keep a clean sheet, Phoon’s efforts were even bigger than the box score suggests as Allen played the game with 10 men for the final 75 minutes of the game. Due to playing a man short, Dickson had to take charge and make sure the Red Devils stayed committed defensively and showed great leadership and communication to ensure that ACCC picked up the conference opening win.
