COLBY, Kan. – Two wins in conference play by Johnson County last week were led by this week’s Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Men’s Soccer Players of the Week Tanner Poirier and Ben Hertel for week five of the 2024 season.  

Tanner Poirier (Johnson County) – Poirier netted two goals with an assist in JCCC's two victories last week. His goal against Pratt proved to be the game winner as the Cavaliers currently lead the KJCCC Division 2 men's soccer standings. This season, Poirier ranks second in the KJCCC and 39th nationally in goals scored (5).

Ben Hertel (Johnson County) – Hertel helped lead the number eight-ranked Cavaliers to a pair of KJCCC wins last week as Johnson County took down Hesston 5-1 on the road before a 3-1 home win over Pratt. Playing all 180 minutes in net, Hertel turned away nine shots and picked up both wins to improve to 5-1-0 this season in net. This season, Hertel has turned away 31 of 39 shots on goal and ranks eighth nationally in NJCAA Division 2 with five wins.
