Two KJCCC Men's Track Teams Earn Top-10 Finishes At NJCAA Championships, Two Individual National Champions Crowned

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Individual National Championship performances from Hutchinson Community College’s Ty’Rique Noland and Barton Community College’s Trevon Hamer highlighted three days of action for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference men’s track and field teams at the 2025 NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships inside of Gowans Stadium on the campus of Hutchinson Community College May 15-17, 2025.
Team scoring saw both Hutchinson and Barton finish in the top 10 of the final scores after all 22 events were completed with the Blue Dragons taking seventh with 39 total team points while the Cougars finished with 38 team points to take eighth. Also scoring team points from the KJCCC were Colby Community College (14th, 19 points), Allen Community College (16th, 18 points), Cloud County (17th, 16 points), Coffeyville (18th, 15 points), Butler (22nd, 10 points), Highland (tied-23rd, eight points), Fort Scott (25th, seven points), Garden City (tied-26th, six points), Cowley (28th, five points), Neosho County and Fort Hays Tech Northwest (tied-29th, four points), and Dodge City (tied-37th, one point).
Both individual National Championships came in jumps as Roland picked up a National Title in the high jump on Friday afternoon by clearing 2.10 meters (6 feet, 10.75 inches) as the career-best mark allowed the sophomore to become the fourth Hutchinson men’s high jumper in program history to win an NJCAA National Title.
The lone other KJCCC National Champion came in repeat fashion as Hamer earned his fourth overall National Title and second-straight NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Title in the triple jump by recording the sixth-best mark in NJCAA history with a leap of 17.6 meters (55 feet – 0.25 inches) to win the event by a full 18 inches over the next closest competitor in the event.
Four other marks from conference members resulted in individual National runner-up marks, including Darwin Jiminez (Allen) who ran a time of 10.38 in the 100 meters. Other National runner-up finishes on the track included a pair of Hutchinson runners (Kebba Makalo, David Thid) placing second in the 200 meters (20.64 seconds) and 400-meter hurdles (51.60 seconds), respectively, along with Colby’s Kenan Delestre who took second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (8:58.77). The lone KJCCC athlete to earn a National runner-up finish in a field event was Coffeyville’s La’Darion Dudley who took second in the shot put with a mark of 16.93 meters (55 feet – 6.5 inches).
