KJCCC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week - Week 4
COLBY, Kan. – National qualifying marks for Fort Hays Tech Northwest’s Sibonokuhle Thwala and Dodge City’s Brendan Carter have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors following their performances at the Emporia State University Midwest Classic.
Sibonokuhle Thwala (Fort Hays Tech NW) – KJCCC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Thwala finished second in the 1,500 meters at the Emporia State University Midwest Classic after running a time of 3:53.39. The time qualified Thwala for the NJCAA Division 1 Outdoor Track and Field Championships and was just 0.19 seconds off his personal best time that he set last season at the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet.
Brendan Carter (Dodge City) – KJCCC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Brenden Carter earned a trip to the NJCAA Outdoor Nationals after posting a leap of 2.05 meters in the high jump at the Midwest Classic hosted by Emporia State. He won the event by two inches, beating several NCAA D2 athletes.
