2025 D1 Softball All-KJCCC Teams
COLBY, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has announced the 2025 KJCCC D1 Softball All-KJCCC teams and winners of the major postseason honors. The awards, which were voted on by each of the league head coaches, include four individuals from two different conference institutions bringing home major accolades.
Major award winners from the 2025 regular season are Most Valuable Player Maria Avendano Fori of Garden City, Pitcher of the Year Meliea Ingram of Barton, Newcomer of the Year Daryelin Rivas Chavez of Garden City, and Coach of the Year Carson DuBose of Barton.
Most Valuable Player: Maria Avendano Fori (Garden City)
The KJCCC leader in both RBI (101) and home runs (27), Maria Avendano Fori helped lead Garden City to a fourth-place finish in the KJCCC regular season standings and an appearance in the NJCAA Region 6 D1 Softball Tournament semifinals as one of the final three teams in the eight-team tournament. Finishing the season with a .500 batting average, Avendano Fori ranked second in the conference in runs scored (77), third in hits (83), fourth in on-base percentage (.541), and sixth in stolen bases (27). Avendano Fori was a two-time KJCCC D1 Softball Player of the Week this season and ranked second nationally in home runs and third in RBI.
Pitcher of the Year: Meleia Ingram (Barton)
Striking out a conference-best 182 batters this season, Ingram went 19-7 in the circle with two saves across 143.2 innings pitched this season to finish with the second-most wins and third-most innings pitched. The freshman also led the league in complete games (17) and shutouts (4) while averaging 8.87 strikeouts per contest. Ingram was a three-time KJCCC D1 Softball Pitcher of the Week award winner and ranked ninth nationally in strikeouts and 15th nationally in pitching wins.
Newcomer of the Year: Daryelin Rivas Chavez (Garden City)
One of the most dangerous hitters in the KJCCC this season, Rivas Chavez hit .514 this season with a .556 on-base percentage while ranking in the top five of the KJCCC in runs scored (69), triples (4), home runs (17), and total bases (146). Hitting a staggering .581 in conference play with a 1.070 slugging percentage, Chavez struck out only three times in 154 plate appearances and saw 63 of her hits go for extra bases. Her 146 total bases rank 13th nationally while also ranking in the top 20 in home runs and stolen bases.
Coach of the Year: Carson DuBose (Barton)
Third-year head coach Carson DuBose earns her first KJCCC D1 Softball Coach of the Year honors after leading Barton to a third-place finish in the KJCCC standings and a 35-16 overall record. Picking up wins over KJCCC regular season co-champions Butler and Hutchinson during the regular season, DuBose had the Cougars a game away from their first national tournament appearance since 1993 before falling in the NJCAA Region 6 D1 Softball Tournament Championship game. The third-place finish in the conference standings is the second-straight season that Barton has finished in the top three of the conference standings and is their highest finishes in the regular season standings since 2017.
