Butler Softball Earns #9 Seed In NJCAA D1 Softball World Series, Set For Rematch With #8 Seed Paris JC
CHARLOTTE, NC – Winners of the 2025 NJCAA Division 1 Region 6 Plains District Softball Tournament to secure an automatic berth in the NJCAA Division 1 Softball World Series, the Butler Community College softball team has earned the number nine overall seed and will face off with number eight seed Paris Junior College in their opening game of the tournament on Monday, May 19th at the Pacific Avenue Sports Complex in Yuma, AZ.
First pitch between the Grizzlies and Dragons is set for 3:30 PM (MST) and is game five of the tournament that is set to run throughout the week and conclude on Saturday, May 24th. Other games taking place on the same side of the bracket as Butler and Paris include opening round contests between number 16 seed McCook and number 17 seed Crowder, along with a matchup between number 13 seed College of Southern Idaho and number 20 seed Navarro Community College. The other already known second-round matchup on the left half of the bracket will see number five seed Chattanooga State Community College take on the number 12 seed Chipola College, while both the number one seed Florida SouthWestern State College and the number four seed Grayson College await the winners of the opening round matchups.
Butler and Paris met once this season on February 15th, with the then 14th-ranked Grizzlies mounting an impressive comeback, scoring five seventh-inning runs to win 14-12 over the 16th-ranked Dragons in Denison, Texas. The Grizzlies are making the program's 14th appearance in the NJCAA Division 1 World Series, all coming since 2007 as Butler has appeared in 14 of the last 18 tournaments that were held (no postseason in 2020 due to COVID-19).
