KJCCC Division 1 Softball Players of the Week - Week 10
COLBY, Kan. – A perfect week at the plate and a near-perfect pair of outings in the pitching circle have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Softball Player of the Week accolades for Garden City Community College sophomore Daryelin Rivas Chavez and Hutchinson Community College sophomore Morgan Tomlinson.
Daryelin Rivas Chavez – Garden City (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Player of the Week)
Rivas Chavez went a perfect eight-for-eight at the plate last week for Garden City as the Broncbusters swept a KJCCC doubleheader over rival Garden City at home. Going four-for-four in the opening game of the doubleheader with two doubles and a home run, Rivas Chavez added another four hits in game two with another two home runs to finish the day with eight RBI and seven runs scored to help GCCC win 10-6 and 12-11. For the week, Rivas Chavez recorded a slugging percentage of 2.375 and saw five of her eight hits go for extra bases while swiping five bases.
Morgan Tomlinson - Hutchinson (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Morgan Tomlinson tossed seven scoreless innings and allowed just one hit in that span to lead the Blue Dragon Softball team to a 4-0 week. Tomlinson worked the first three innings of a combined no-hitter vs. Fort Hays Tech Northwest in a 23-0 victory last Wednesday. Tomlinson struck out seven in four innings. Tomlinson then earned her 29th career Blue Dragon victory with four shutout innings against Friends JV on Sunday. She allowed one hit and struck out four over four innings.
