KJCCC Division 1 Softball Players of the Week - Week 9
COLBY, Kan. – Extending their winning streak to 14 straight games with another four wins last week, Hutchinson Community College has swept the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Softball Player of the Week awards with Bailey Backhaus and Aubree Thomas picking up their second and third awards of the season.
Bailey Backhaus – Hutchinson (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Player of the Week)
Blue Dragon leadoff hitter Bailey Backhaus hit .667 and posted a .667 on-base percentage in four wins last week. In a battle for first place with Barton, Backhaus was a combined 5 for 8 with four runs scored. For the week, Backhaus was 12 of 18 with two doubles, two triples, four RBI, and 12 runs scored. Backhaus was also a perfect four of four on the base paths in stolen base attempts.
Aubree Thomas - Hutchinson (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Blue Dragon freshman pitcher Aubree Thomas earned a pair of pitching victories to lead the first-place Blue Dragons to a 14-game winning streak. Thomas had eight total strikeouts over nine innings pitched while allowing only eight hits and two earned runs over the span.
