KJCCC Division 2 Softball Players of the Week - Week 13
COLBY, Kan. – For the second-straight week, a Fort Scott Community College pitcher has collected Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Softball Player of the Week honors with Greyhound sophomore Bailey Melton being joined by Johnson County’s Maddie Murray to each collect their first Player of the Week accolades of the season.
Maddie Murray – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Player of the Week)
Johnson County freshman Maddie Murray batted .611 (11-for-18) with a double, six home runs, seven runs scored, and 15 RBI last week. Recording a trio of five RBI games, Murray had two come in a road doubleheader sweep over Highland. Against the Scotties, Murray had six hits in seven at-bats which included a double, three home runs, and 10 RBI. The freshman capped the week off by belting three homers to drive in five runs in a 10-0 win at Allen.
Bailey Melton – Fort Scott (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Melton helped Fort Scott pick up two wins last week in KJCCC play, throwing a five-inning one-hitter against Hesston with seven strikeouts before tossing four innings of two-hit softball against Independence with eight strikeouts. The sophomore finished the week with 15 strikeouts and allowed just three hits across nine innings of work.
