KJCCC Division 2 Softball Players of the Week - Week 14
COLBY, Kan. – The final Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Softball Player of the Week awards have been announced with Johnson County’s Maddie Murray and Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Alyssa Droge each picking up week 14 honors.
Maddie Murray – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Player of the Week)
Johnson County freshman catcher Maddie Murray continued her recent tear on opposing pitchers while helping JCCC finish the regular season with a home sweep of Hesston. In the doubleheader against the Larks, Murray was a perfect six-for-six with a double, home run, two runs scored and six RBI. Over her last 12 games, Murray has produced six three-hit games, three five-RBI games, and one game with four RBI. For the season Murray is batting .450 with 28 extra base hits, including 15 home runs, and 54 RBI.
Alyssa Droge – KCKCC (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Droge was a workhorse for KCKCC last week, throwing a total of 27.2 innings and picking up four pitching victories in five appearances. Saving her best for last, Droge allowed just two hits and struck out 14 over her final 17 innings in the circle last week while picking up three complete game victories. Helping the Blue Devils to an 8-0 week, Droge accounted for four of KCKCC's eight pitching victories last week and finished the regular season leading the KJCCC in pitching appearances (38), wins (24), complete games (22), shutouts (11), strikeouts (180), and ranked second in ERA (2.33). Nationally, Droge ranks in the top-12 of NJCAA D2 in all of the categories except ERA.
