KJCCC Division 2 Softball Players of the Week - Week 9
COLBY, Kan. – An 8-0 record last week that included four wins in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play and propelling Kansas City Kansas Community College back into the latest NJCAA Division 2 Softball top 25 poll has led to KJCCC D2 Softball Player of the Week honors for Blue Devil players Sidney Sullivan and Alyssa Droge.
Sidney Sullivan – KCKCC (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Player of the Week)
Sullivan had an outstanding week, driving in 20 RBI as the freshman blasted four home runs, one triple, and four doubles on 15 hits during the Blue Devils' perfect 8-0 week. Against NEO A&M on Tuesday, Sullivan hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning to give KCKCC a 4-3 lead in an eventual 5-3 Blue Devil win before going on to hit two home runs in the opening game of a doubleheader against Highland on March 27th, leading the Blue Devils to an 8-0, mercy-rule victory. Defensively, Sullivan was flawless in left field, recording eight putouts.
Alyssa Droge – KCKCC (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Droge played a key role in KCKCC’s perfect 8-0 week, allowing only three earned runs in 27 innings pitched. The sophomore struck out 29 batters, posted an impressive 0.78 ERA, and issued just three walks. Additionally, Droge surpassed 100 strikeouts for the season, reaching a total of 102.1 innings pitched.
