Week 7 NJCAA Softball Polls Remain Relatively Unchanged, Keeping 5 KJCCC Teams In Rankings
NJCAA Division 1 Softball Week 7 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Softball Week 7 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – With limited changes across the board nationally in both the NJCAA Division 1 and NJCAA Division 2 Softball top 25 polls, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference sees just two of their five teams ranked or receiving votes hold a new ranking from the prior week in the latest rendition of the polls released on Monday, April 7th.
The five-team group from the KJCCC that are ranked or receiving votes this week marks the third consecutive week that all the KJCCC is represented in the polls by the same five teams with Butler and Hutchinson representing the league in the D1 poll while Neosho County, Johnson County, and Kansas City Kansas all continue to hold rankings in the Division 2 poll.
In the Division 1 poll, Butler Community College picked up a doubleheader sweep in their only action of the week last week by taking down Cowley in a non-conference pair of games to improve to 23-5 overall with a nine-game winning streak which allowed the Grizzlies to remain ranked number 17 in this week’s poll. Hutchinson, which continues to lead the KJCCC Division 1 softball standings, outscored Fort Hays Tech Northwest and Friends University JV by a combined score of 63-1 to go 4-0 last week while improving to 27-5 overall to continue to be among those receiving votes.
The KJCCC accounted for some of the minor shuffling of teams in the latest Division 2 poll as Neosho County is now the highest-ranked conference team in the poll by being ranked number 18 this week following a road sweep of Cloud County last week to continue an unbeaten start to conference play. Johnson County split a home doubleheader with Cowley College last week in their only action of the week and fell two spots in the latest poll while KCKCC extended their recent winning streak to 11 straight games with a win over Southwestern Iowa Community College and a sweep of Fort Scott last week to improve to 23-10 overall and move up one spot to number 22 in this week’s poll.
