Week 2 KJCCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
In week two of the 2014-2015 NJCAA Women's Basketball season, Hutchinson sophomore Kalani Purcell picked up the KJCCC Player of the Week award, outshining a record nine other nominees this week.
Sophomore Kalani Purcell continued to churn out double-doubles, starting the new season with two in a pair of wins for No. 2 Hutchinson over Labette and Hesston College. Purcell now has six consecutive double-doubles dating back to last season and 20 for her career.
For the week, Purcell averaged 28.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.5 steals while shooting 71.9 percent from the field.
Against Labette, Purcell was 12 of 14 shooting for 25 points and 10 rebounds with six assists. On Saturday, Purcell scored a career-high 32 points on 11 of 18 shooting and added 15 rebounds, seven steals and five assists in only 28 minutes.
Purcell moved into a tie for fifth on the HCC career steals chart with 137 steals.
