Miriam Fernandez, freshman forward from Madrid, Spain, came off the bench in both games last week and was a difference maker for the Pirates.  She shot 61.5% from the field and 60% from the 3-point line including a huge three late in the game vs. #17 Hutchinson for the upset win. That marked the first win for Independence over Hutchinson since the 2006-07 season.
