Sophomore Alize Ruiz helped Cloud County get off to a 2-0 start to their conference season which included a 20-point, nine-rebound performance in a 75-65 upset of #4 Hutchinson in which the T-Birds never trailed in the contest. Getting creative with her scoring, Ruiz would go to the free throw line 22 times this past week, connecting on 21 of 22 free throws which included a 12-12 start to the game against NW KS Tech. Adding 24 total rebounds for a 12 rebound per game average, Ruiz would also add five total assists while limiting her turnovers by not committing any against the Blue Dragons. On the year, Ruiz is averaging 13.7 points and 13.0 rebounds per game despite playing only 28.9 minutes per contest and has scored in double-figures in five of CCCC's seven games.
