Player of the Week: Nariyah Simmons – Johnson County Community College
Johnson County sophomore guard Nariyah Simmons averaged 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists while shooting 55 percent from the field and 80 percent at the free throw line in JCCC's wins over Fort Scott and Labette last week. In the win over Fort Scott, Simmons nailed six 3-point baskets to lead JCCC with 20 points. She also grabbed six rebounds. She capped with week with 16 points and six boards in an 65-61 overtime thriller over No. 8 Labette. Currently, Simmons leads the conference in scoring a 16.5 points per game and is tied for the lead with 30 made 3-point baskets.
