Laura Maria continued to be Barton’s silent attacker this week compiling eleven points in netting what proved to be both game winners. In Wednesday’s home victory the freshman from Brazil recorded her first collegiate hat trick then on Saturday, scored Barton’s first goals in getting the Cougars off to a two goal lead just 11:32 into the contest at Saturday. Maria would later add an assist to increase her team lead to 11 while compiling 41 points to rank second in the KJCCC in both categories.
Bethany Reeves continues to lead a defense that has allowed only three goals in KJCCC play while the team is at the top of the table with a 6-0-0 record. Reeves contributed to two more shutouts this past week, playing 60 scoreless minutes in a 5-0 win vs Allen County and 80 scoreless minutes in a 3-0 victory at Kansas City. Reeves now has logged just under 1,000 minutes while allowing 10 goals, good for a 0.90 GAA and a 9-3-0 overall record for the Grizzlies.
