Elise Leidersten continues to pace the #13 Grizzlies to a 14-4-0 record and KJCCC East Conference Championship. Leiderstan now has 22 goals and 12 assists for 56 points on the season. Leidersten assisted on three goals and added a goal of her own in a 5-1 win vs Kansas City. Leidersten then closed out the regular season with her fourth hat-trick of the season in a 6-0 win at Allen County. Leidersten and the Grizzlies will now host Dodge City in the first round of the NJCAA Region VI Tournament on Thursday evening in El Dorado.
Blue Dragon sophomore Brailey Moeder scored the fastest hat trick in Blue Dragon history and did so in a major second half comeback to lead Hutchinson past Cloud County in Concordia, ending the Thunderbirds’ chances of a repeat Jayhawk Conference title. Moeder had three goals and an assist in Hutch’s 4-3 win at Cloud County. Trailing 2-1 with less than 15 minutes remaining, Moeder scored three consecutive goals in a span of 5 minutes, 4 seconds to give Hutch a 4-2 lead, the final goal coming on her second penalty kick of the season. With her seven-point game, Moeder moves into the career Blue Dragon Top 10 for points (85), goals (31) and assists (23).
Freshman Taylor Camp picked up two more wins and made some major saves in a 4-3 Hutchinson comeback at Cloud County to close the regular season. After a one-save game against Pratt for her fourth-straight shutout, Camp was tested early with two incredible saves early to help Hutch build a 1-0 lead at Cloud County by halftime. After Cloud scored two quick second half goals, Camp was again clutch. After Hutch scored three-straight goals to take a 4-2 lead, Camp was forced to defend two penalty kicks and two direct free kicks from within striking distance to preserve the 4-3 win. Camp had seven saves in the game. Camp is now 11-2-1 with eight shutouts this season.
