2021-22 Division II All-KJCCC/Region VI Women's Soccer Selections Announced
Region VI Champion Allen Community College dominated the post-season 2021 Division II All-KJCCC/Region VI selections, sweeping the major awards headlined by Head Coach Jeremy McGinnis, Player of the Year Claudia Zahui, and Defensive Player of the Year Yasmin Evans.
Allen led the Division II selections with eight honorees, five landing on the first team, with conference runner-up Pratt Community College placing three of their six selections on the first squad.
Division II Awards
Coach of the Year – Jeremy McGinnis (Allen)
Coach McGinnis led the Red Devils to the KJCCC crown at 8-0-1 before winning the Region VI title and advancing to the North Plains Championship. Coming up short, Coach McGinnis' squad finished at 15-3-1 in posting the most wins in program history.
Player of the Year – Claudia Kahui (Allen)
Claudia Zahui made a big splash in her first season as a Red Devil, leading the Division II net rattlers with 17 in twenty games played to also finish third overall in Region VI amongst Division I players. Second behind teammate Mia Evans in dishing out 9 assists, the two-time conference player of the week led Division II with 43 total points to finish second overall in Region VI.
Defensive Player of the Year – Yasmin Evans (Allen)
A first team selection last year, Yasmin Evans continued her strong play this past season in helping to control play from her center defensive midfielder position. Evans and the Red Devil defense posted nine shutouts, including seven straight to wrap up the regular season and capture the Region VI title. Offensively Evans scored a team fourth best 6 goals and 4 assists in compiling 16 points throughout the season.
