7 KJCCC Women's Soccer Players Named NJCAA All-Americans
CHARLOTTE, NC – After another strong women’s soccer season within the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference that saw three teams qualify for the NJCAA Women’s Soccer National Tournaments, the NJCAA has released their Division 1 and Division 2 Women’s Soccer All-America Teams with seven players from five different schools being named 2024 All-Americans.
Included in the list are three players to earn NJCAA First-Team All-America status with Cowley’s Hina Suzuki, Hutchinson’s, Kaitlyn Edwards, and Johnson County’s Emily Crosby each earning First-Team All-America honors. Crosby is joined by teammate Montana Rose-Currey who earned NJCAA Second-Team All-American status while Hutchinson’s Katharina Marx, Kansas City Kansas Community College midfielder Sierra Montez, and Neosho County forward Aio Kanno all earned Third-Team All-American accolades.
Hina Suzuki (Cowley) NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer First Team All-American
The KJCCC Division 1 Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year, Suzuki led the KJCCC with 19 total goals this season and ranked second in the conference with 43 total points as both totals ranked in the top 15 of NJCAA Division 1 women’s soccer players this season. Suzuki also had six game-winning goals which ranked third among all NJCAA Division 1 women’s soccer players and helped lead the Tigers to an NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Plains District Tournament Title and appearance in the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer National Tournament.
Kaitlyn Edwards (Hutchinson) NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer First Team All-American
An everyday starting midfielder for Hutchinson, Edwards totaled 10 goals and had five assists this past season for the Blue Dragons who came up just short of qualifying for the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer National Tournament for the first time in program history. Taking 56 total shots this season, Edwards was tied for second on the team in total goals and third in points (25) with eight of her 10 goals coming in conference play.
Katharina Marx (Hutchinson) NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Third Team All-American
Leading Hutchinson in total assists with 13, Marx ranked eighth nationally in total assists and tallied 33 points after scoring 10 goals which was tied for second on a Blue Dragon squad that went 11-2-7 overall and finished as NJCAA Division1 Women’s Soccer Plains District runners-up. Of her 10 goals this season, Marx had three game-winning goals and took 53 total shots with 45 of her shots and eight of her goals coming against conference foes.
Sierra Montez (KCKCC) NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Third Team All-American
Helping to lead KCKCC to an undefeated regular season and a share of the KJCCC Division 1 Women’s Soccer regular season title, Montez was the leading scorer for the Blue Devils with 15 goals along with 7 assists to total 37 total points. Her 15 goals ranked 24th nationally among NJCAA Division 1 women’s soccer players while four of her goals were game winners which ranked 14th nationally.
Emily Crosby (Johnson County) NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer First Team All-American
A key piece to a Johnson County back line that allowed just 10 total goals in 24 matches and an appearance in the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer National Championship match, Crosby started all 24 matches for the Cavaliers and helped JCCC post the lowest goals against average among 100 NJCAA Division 2 women’s soccer teams. The sophomore had one goal offensively while helping the Cavaliers post 19 shutouts this past season.
Montana Rose-Currey (Johnson County) NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer Second Team All-American
Becoming a two-time All-American with her second-straight NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer Second Team All-America honor, Rose-Currey becomes the first Cavalier to become a two-time All-American in program history. Leading JCCC to consecutive NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer National Championship match appearances, Rose-Currey had five goals and five assists despite playing primarily as a defender while helping Johnson County post 19 shutouts and not allow a single goal against KJCCC foes along with three postseason shutouts.
Aio Kanno (Neosho County) NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer Third Team All-American
Kanno helped Neosho County to 10 victories this past season and recorded three goals and nine assists despite playing as a defender for the Panthers who made the NJCAA Region 6/9 Tournament for a second-straight year. The nine assists ranked fourth among KJCCC Division 2 women’s soccer players and 42nd nationally with five assists coming against KJCCC foes.
