KJCCC Announces D1 Volleyball Postseason Awards
COLBY, Kan. – Leading Barton Community College to a second-straight Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Volleyball regular season title, Cougar head coach Megan Besecker and outside hitter Phoebe Reyes have earned KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball Coach of the Year and Player of the Year with Colby Community College outside hitter Karlotta Kattai earning Freshman of the Year honors to lead the postseason honors.

COLBY, Kan. – Leading Barton Community College to a second-straight Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Volleyball regular season title, Cougar head coach Megan Besecker and outside hitter Phoebe Reyes have earned KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball Coach of the Year and Player of the Year with Colby Community College outside hitter Karlotta Kattai earning Freshman of the Year honors to lead the postseason honors.
Megan Besecker – Barton (KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball Coach of the Year)
In her second year at the helm of the Cougars, Besecker has turned Barton into a national contender as BCC went 28-2 in the regular season and lost just six total sets in 16 conference matches as part of a 15-1 mark in the KJCCC to win the conference outright. The only two losses of the regular season for Barton came at the hands of teams currently ranked in the top 10 of the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Poll as only one of Barton’s 30 matches in the regular season went to a decisive fifth set. In addition to the 15-1 mark in conference play, Barton went 9-1 at home and a perfect 8-0 in true road matches with 23 of their 28 wins in the regular season coming by 3-0 sweep.
Phoebe Reyes – Barton (KJKCCC Division 1 Volleyball Player of the Year)
After winning KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year in 2023, Reyes earns her second-straight KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball Player of the Year award after ranking fourth in the KJCCC in kills per set (3.20), eighth in kills (301), and 12th in hitting percentage (.282). Recording 14 matches with double-figure kills, Reyes is 33rd in NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball in kills per set and 57th in total kills.
Karlotta Kattai – Colby (KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball Freshman of the Year)
The KJCCC Division 1 volleyball leader in kills per set (4.20), Kattai helped Colby to a 25-3 overall record and 14-2 mark in the KJCCC with two of their three losses coming to teams ranked in the top 10 of the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball poll. Starting the season with a streak of 16 straight matches in double-figure kills, Kattai had 23 matches with double-figure kills and had 10 double-doubles to rank third in the NJCAA in kills per set, 23rd in total kills (357), and 41st in service aces (50).
