Two KJCCC Volleyball Players Named NJCAA Volleyball Players of the Week
CHARLOTTE, NC – For the third time in the past four weeks, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has an NJCAA Volleyball Player of the Week with Cowley’s Jessi Ritchhart earning NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week while Butler’s Sarah Sullivan has earned NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
CHARLOTTE, NC – For the third time in the past four weeks, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has an NJCAA Volleyball Player of the Week with Cowley’s Jessi Ritchhart earning NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week while Butler’s Sarah Sullivan has earned NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
Jessi Ritchhart – Cowley (NJCAA Division 2 Defensive Player of the Week)
Ritchhart currently ranks 20th in the NJCAA in digs per set, second in the KJCCC in digs per set (5.80), and averaged 6.27 digs per set last week to help Cowley go 5-0 on the week. Passed at a 2.57 passer rating on the week and was named to the Cowley Invitational Tournament All-Tournament team by the tournament coaches. For the week, Ritchhart totaled 94 digs and had only three receiving errors in 38 total receptions.
Sarah Sullivan – Butler (NJCAA Division 1 Offensive Player of the Week)
Sullivan helped the Grizzlies to a 2-1 finish on the week including a 3-1 win over Cloud County for the Grizzlies second straight conference win. On the week, Sullivan tallied 4.18 kills per set and hit .343. She also averaged 2.36 digs per set. In a 3-1 loss to MSU-West Plains, Sullivan slammed home a school-record-tying 21 kills on a .304 hitting percentage. She finished with 17 kills and nine digs in a 3-1 win over Cloud County.
Ritchhart joins teammate Hanna Darvas and Johnson County’s Taylin Stallbaumer as NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Players of the Week from the KJCCC this season while Sullivan is the first NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Player of the Week honoree from the conference this year.
