CHARLOTTE, NC – No changes to the top 10 rankings of the latest NJCAA Division 1 and 2 volleyball polls continue to see four teams from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference among the top of the polls with two additional teams ranked or receiving votes within the week six polls.
With three teams ranked or receiving votes in both the NJCAA Division 1 and 2 polls, the KJCCC once again finds itself with six total teams in the rankings as Dodge City has worked itself back into the list of those receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division 1 rankings. The Conquistadors worked a five-set home win over Butler last week to open their week before going on the road to defeat Garden City in four sets to take firm control of the number three spot in the KJCCC Division 1 volleyball standings and among the contenders heading into the back half of the conference schedule. Playing just once last week but earning a convincing 3-0 home sweep over Cloud County to finish the first round of KJCCC games with an unblemished 8-0 mark was Barton who maintains their number five ranking while Colby earned road sweeps over Hutchinson and Cloud County last week to stay one game back of the Cougars in the KJCCC standings while maintaining their number eight ranking.
This week's NJCAA Division 2 volleyball rankings continue to see top-ranked Cowley receiving all nine first-place votes while holding the only unblemished record at 19-0 this season as the Tigers went 2-0 last week ahead of a two-match week this week. Number two ranked Johnson County picked up three wins last week and will also have two matches this week, with the second match for both the Cavaliers and Tigers coming against one another in Arkansas City on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM. Moving up one spot in the rankings this week from 18th to 17th is Kansas City Kansas Community College as the Blue Devils earned three wins of their own last week including a five-set thriller over previously number 19 ranked Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
A bit lighter schedule this week will only see 30 matches take place involving conference schools this week with all six schools that are in this week's rankings seeing action on Wednesday after seeing only number five-ranked Barton take the court on Monday as part of a five-match schedule across the conference. The biggest match of the week in either division will be Saturday afternoon as top-ranked Cowley hosts number two Johnson County in their only scheduled meeting of the season.
