CHARLOTTE, NC – Just two changes for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference schools in the latest NJCAA volleyball rankings as the final polls of the regular season have five conference schools ranked in the week 10 polls released on Monday, November 4th.
Both changes come in the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball top 20 poll following the final week of play in the regular season for the KJCCC with Barton moving up two spots from ninth to seventh after winning their 22nd KJCCC title in program history by finishing the regular season with a 28-2 overall record. Colby, which suffered a mid-week defeat to Garden City last Wednesday before bouncing back with a sweep of Hutchinson fell three spots and are now ranked 10th to give the KJCCC both of their teams in the D1 rankings ranked inside the top 10.
As for the NJCAA Division 2 top 25 poll, the KJCCC saw no changes for any of their three ranked teams as Cowley remains the top ranked team after finishing the regular season with two wins to cap off a 34-0 regular season as the Tigers have continued their win streak to 75 straight matches. CCC won their second-straight KJCCC regular season title and have won 102 of the 106 sets they have played this season. Johnson County remains ranked 10th after finishing their regular season with a win over Neosho County to improve to 25-6 overall while securing the top overall seed in the NJCAA Division 2 Plains District B Tournament. Kansas City Kansas, which has won 14 of their past 15 matches, remains ranked 13th after moving up three spots in the poll last week as the Blue Devils picked up a road sweep over Hesston to secure the number two seed and right to host a Plains District B Tournament match this Wednesday.
With the regular season complete, postseason play for both KJCCC Division 1 and Division 2 teams will begin on Wednesday, November 6th as three total automatic qualification bids into the NJCAA National Tournaments are at stake this week. In the NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Plains District A Tournament, Cowley will host Coffeyville and Allen will host Highland Community College with the winners meeting at Garvey Gymnasium in Wichita on Saturday afternoon. The NJCAA Division 2 Plains District B Tournament will see Johnson County host Neosho County in one semifinal match while Kansas City Kansas will take on number 22 ranked and NJCAA Region 2 Champion Northeast Oklahoma A&M in the other semifinal with the winners meeting up in the first championship match in Wichita on Saturday at 12 PM.
Four NJCAA Division 1 Plains District Tournament quarterfinal matches are set for Wednesday as top-seed Barton will host eighth-seeded Pratt at 6:30 PM with the winner facing the winner of fourth-seeded Butler and fifth-seeded Garden City as the Grizzlies will host the Broncbusters in El Dorado at 6 PM.
