COLBY, Kan. – Wins last week in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play for Seward County, Barton, and Hutchinson volleyball were led by the KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball Players of the Week Mariana Silva, Ori Briger, and Clara Oliveira.

Mariana Silva (Seward County) - KJCCC D1 Volleyball Player of the Week
Sophomore outside hitter Mariana Silva had a big week attacking for Seward County as the Saints went 1-1 while picking up a four-set upset of number nine Colby. In the win against the Trojans, Silva landed 22 kills on 55 attempts (.291) and added six digs and a block to propel SCCC to a win over its highest-ranked opponent since 2021. Three days later, in a 3-1 loss to Garden City, Silva finished with a double-double as she put together 16 kills to go with 15 digs and two solo blocks.

Ori Briger (Barton) – KJCCC D1 Volleyball Setter of the Week
Sophomore setter Ori Briger orchestrated the first wave of Barton's 6-2 offense to its most efficient outing of the season, guiding the 10th-ranked Cougars to a straight-set sweep over nationally receiving vote getter Butler Community College. Briger distributed 20 assists in three sets, helping Barton post a season-best .414 team hitting percentage while adding eight digs, a service ace, and a kill on her lone attack attempt.

Clara Oliveira (Hutchinson) – KJCCC D1 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Hutchinson libero Clara Oliveira averaged 5.71 digs over seven sets played in a 1-1 week for the Blue Dragons. Oliveira had 24 digs, her 10th match this season with 20 or more digs, in a 3-1 loss to Garden City. The freshman followed up with 16 digs in a sweep of Cloud County three days later to finish off a season sweep of the T-Birds. With 532 digs this season, Oliveira has already climbed to eighth on the Blue Dragon freshman single-season list for digs and is now 13th on the overall single-season list.
