KJCCC Cross Country Runners of the Week - Week 7
COLBY, Kan. – Getting a chance to preview the course for the upcoming NJCAA Region 6 Cross Country Championships, Hutchinson’s Faith Jepchirchir and Butler’s Emmanuel Otim have each earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for the third and fourth times this season.
COLBY, Kan. – Getting a chance to preview the course for the upcoming NJCAA Region 6 Cross Country Championships, Hutchinson’s Faith Jepchirchir and Butler’s Emmanuel Otim have each earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for the third and fourth times this season.
Faith Jepchirchir (Hutchinson) – Freshman Faith Jepchirchir made it 3 for 3 this season, winning her third meet, the second in school-record fashion to lead the No. 6-ranked Blue Dragon women at the Region 6 Preview at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield. Jepchirchir broke her own 5K school record by 12.34 seconds on Saturday, winning the preview with a time of 16:55.33. Jepchirchir first broke the Blue Dragons' 5,000-meter record two weeks ago at the Chili Pepper Festival with a time of 17:08.1.
Emmanuel Otim (Butler) – Freshman Emmanuel Otim took first (23:12.01) in the 8000 meters on the men's side of the Region 6 Preview. Otim's time was a personal best this season and has won three of four events he has raced this season. He helped the Grizzlies to a first-place team finish.
