Johnson County freshmen center Nyayien Koang played a role in helping the No. 1 ranked Lady Cavaliers complete the regular season undefeated. She came in off the bench to post season-highs for points with 14 and rebounds with seven, to lead JCCC to a 64-58 win at No. 8 Labette Wednesday night. She hit 86 percent from the floor, making 6-of-7 shots.
Johnson County sophomore guard Jaylen Townsend helped the No. 1 ranked Lady Cavaliers improve to 17-0 with a pair of conference wins last week. She averaged 19.5 points 2.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals over those two victories. She also shot 52 percent from the field, including 56 percent from 3-point range. She was 4-for-4 from the line. She opened the week with a career-best 25 points in an 88-38 win over Hesston. She hit 11-of-14 shots with 3-of-4 beyond the arc. She followed with 14 points in a 58-37 win at Highland.
Hesston College sophomore guard Des3ny Kessay averaged 21.3 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 2.3 APG, and 3.3 SPG this week in their three games. Des3ny scored a career high 34 points and shot 15-23 from the field. Kessay finished the week shoo3ng over 50% from the field and 45.4% from three point range.
For the Second week in a row, Sophomore Guard Tiara Earnest led the Blue Devils offense to a conference win over Fort Scott. Earnest led the blue devils shooting 61% from the field and 44% from three point range. Tiara scored a career high 30 points in the win over Fort Scott.
Sophomore Guard Tiara Earnest led the #5 Blue Devils to a 3-0 week averaging 17.6 points per game while adding 6.6 rebounds per contest. In two conference match ups Earnest scored 20 points in each game while also gaining a double-double against Highland Community College. Earnest shot nearly 48% from the field and 43% from behind the arch on the week.
Johnson County sophomore forward LaJahda Boyland helped the No. 3-ranked Lady Cavaliers improve 10-0 on the season, averaging 16.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game in two games last week. She shot 43 percent from the field and 74 percent at the free throw line. Boyland opened the week with a 20 points and 17 rebounds in an 86-38 win over Metropolitan. Her 20 points set a new career high and her 17 boards are the second-most game total in her career. She capped the week with 12 points and nine rebounds in a 65-53 win over No. 4 Kansas City Kansas.
